Lawyers also receive the grade pay along with the basic pay scale. As mentioned that the basic pay scale of a fresh lawyer in high court is up to Rs. 15, 000/- per month. The grade pay for the entry level lawyer starts from Rs. 1500/- and can grow up to Rs. 6800/- per month. It depends on the experience of the lawyer. Also depends on the field like criminal or corporate case.

For a high court lawyer, the salary depends on the experience. As mentioned a fresh graduate lawyer in practicing under high court gets salary of Rs. 15, 000/- on an average per month. An experienced high court lawyer draws Rs. 1, 25, 000/- per month including the grade pay.

As per the recommendation of the 7th Pay commission, it has been proposed that the Grade Pay shall be removed for the central as well as state government employees. Instead of that the minimum pay scale will be increased. For a high court lawyer the minimum basic pay scale has recommended to be increased along with allowances and perks.

To become a Supreme Court lawyer one must have earned a Supreme Court certification. It needs skill, education and extreme knowledge on the subject to become a Supreme Court lawyer. So the basic pay scale of a Supreme Court lawyer is much more than any high court lawyer. The salary of a Supreme Court lawyer is on an average Rs. , 27, 000/- per annum. It grows more with the experience and reputation.

  • Supreme Court Lawyer Grade Pay

Supreme Court Lawyer Grade Pay starts from Rs. 5000/- per month and can go up to Rs. 10, 000/- per month. It depends on the experience and reputation. Also senior lawyers get higher grade pay than the junior lawyers.

  • Supreme Court Lawyer Salary

As said the basic pay starts from Rs. 1, 27, 000/- per annum for a Supreme Court lawyer. The salary, including grade pay and basic salary, of a Supreme Court lawyer on an average is Rs. 4, 00, 000/- per annum. This salary includes the perks and allowances as well. The senior lawyers get more than that. The figures mentioned here are average ones.

  • Benefits under 7th Pay Commission

The basic salary is recommended to be increased after 7th pay commission. It has been proposed that the grade pay will be removed and the basic pay scale will be hiked at least 3 times for each lawyer. If the basic pay for the seniors will increase, the entry level lawyers will get a good pay as well.

  • District Lawyer/Civil Lawyer Pay Scale

The basic pay scale of a district lawyer/ civil lawyer is much lesser than one who practices in high court. The starting pay scale of the district lawyer is Rs. 8000/- per month. The basic pay of a junior district lawyer is higher if the lawyer is a senior one.

  • District Lawyer/Civil Lawyer Grade Pay

The Grade pay of a District Lawyer/ Civil Lawyer starts from Rs. 600/- and more. The district level lawyers or civil lawyers don’t get much pay as high court or Supreme Court.

The salary of a district lawyer/ civil lawyer is nearly about Rs. 9000/- and it grows more with years of experience. The district level lawyers do not get certificate to raise the case in high court or Supreme Court.
