7^th Pay Commission For Security Guard / Watchman Pay Scale

As per the recommendations of the 7^th central pay commission, all ranks of the central govt. employees will experience some modifications in their salary structure as well as pension system. So, the pay scales of the security guards and watchmen serving under the central govt. will also be hiked as per the new pay commission rules. In addition to the pay scale, other allowances like ration allowance, housing allowance, etc will be modified for this Group D post. Currently they are receiving their salary as per the old 6^th pay commission. The new 7th pay commission is expected to get implemented soon and revise their salary structures.

• What is the existing pay scale of the Security Guards / Watchman of central government?

All the security guards and watchmen employed under the central govt. and working in various units and departments of the central govt. get their salary, allowance and pensions as per the old and existing central pay commission i.e. the 6^th pay commission. The existing 6^th CPC is on effect from the financial year 2008 – 2009. As per the 6^th pay commission, the watchman or security guards fall under group D category of employee classification. They receive their salary under the pay scale of Rs. 5,200 – 20,200 added with a grade pay of Rs. 1,800. Added to this, there are several allowances like the Dearness Allowance (DA) which plays a major role in the salary structures of all the central govt. employees.

• Revised pay scale of security guard / watchman as per 7^th central pay commission

As per the new recommendations of the 7^th CPC, the existing pay scale of the Group D employees like watchman or security guards will be modified. Earlier, they used to get salary as per the pay scale of Rs. 5,200 – 20,200 and the grade pay was Rs. 1,800. But under the 7^th pay commission, this pay scale will be Rs. 15,600 – Rs. 60,600. And the grade pay will also be hiked from Rs. 1,800 to Rs. 5,400. So there will be a good hike in terms of the salary, the watchman and security guards get in hand. This pay scale of the 7^th pay commission is the Pay Band – 1 (PB – 1). The new 7^th pay commission will be implemented from 1^st Jan, 2016.

The rank of security guard or watchman employed under the central govt. falls under the category of Group D employees. Now there are several divisions in the Group D employee structure.
