Rail/ Train Driver Salary Pay Scale Matrix and Facility under 7th pay commission
Rail/ Train Drivers are definitely very important employees in Indian Railways. The post is responsible for bringing the passengers and goods from one destination to other. The recruitment of the drivers in Indian Railways includes many procedures like exams, personal interview and of course a skilful training of the person in-charge. The salary of the drivers is same for every type of train and every different posts like Loco Pilot, Assistant Loco Pilot and such. Rail / Train Drivers’ Pay Scale under 6th Pay Commission
Under 6th Central Pay Commission the basic pay scale of the driver in Indian railways was Rs. 5830/- per month with the Grade Pay of Rs. 1900/- per month. This salary was same for all the drivers / Loco Pilots / Assistant Loco Pilots under Indian Railways. Along with this basic pay and grade pay the pilots used to get a bunch of allowances such as DA, HRA, Night Duty Allowances and such. The gross salary of a Train / Rail driver was Rs. 26, 750/- per month under 6th CPC.
Rail /Train Drivers’ Pay Scale under 7th Pay Commission
After 7th Central Pay Commission reports the salary of the drivers have changed. As per the recommendation of the 7th CPC the salary of a Loco Pilot was proposed to be increased to Rs. 33, 000/- per month.
Following the reports of the 7th pay commission the salary of the Grade I and Grade II Loco Pilots for the mail train and passenger trains has increased from Rs. 5830/- to Rs. 9300/- per month. This basic pay scale is an entry level salary for a driver. The salary can be increased up to Rs. 34, 800/- per month. The overall salary of the Railway employees, especially Drivers’ salary has increased by 23.46% after 7th pay commission. From 1st January 2016 the new pay scale has been activated.
Rail / Train Drivers’ Benefits and Allowances under 7th pay commission
- There are some basic allowances are given to the drivers such as Dearness Allowances, House Rent Allowances, Night Duty Allowances and Running Allowances. 112% of the basic salary is given as DA and HRA is given as per the locality / area.
- After 7th CPC there are some new allowances are added to the list for the drivers. These are, Trip allowances, waiting duty allowances, Ghat allowances, Outstation allowances (detention and Relieving), shunting, accident and kilometre allowances.
