The Jai Jawan Awas Yojana one of the housing project carried by Army Welfare Housing Association started along with the Haryana state government was recently started. The main motive behind the launch of the project JJAY is provide proper houses for army personals and their widows.

With the presence of General Dalbir Singh who was the guest of honor for foundation event for Jai Jawan Awas Yojana, the memorial project named after Late Major Rajiv Joon was successfully stoned by chief minister of Haryana Manohar Lal.
Once the foundation stone was laid, the Chief Minister of Haryana addressed the Veterans Rally where it was assured to the veterans that the houses under this programme will be offered at very reasonable rates. During the rally the Chief of Army Staff also mentioned that they were planning another such dwelling project in Karnal for which the Chief Minster has already granted permission and has also given land.
In Haryana there will be 500 dwelling units constructed for the veterans. Earlier the plan was to construct 400 houses, but later it was increased to 500 units.
In the event it was also announced that there will be an education complex set up for which the Haryana government will be providing land at Sonepat. Along with these there are many more welfare projects that are being planned, is was the Chief Minster said.
At the same event there were also other activities conducted. There were a number of stalls that were put up at the venue, which catered to the needs of the ‘Veer Senanis’. This was basically a place where the Veterans could talk about their issues to a Joint Forum of Indian Army and Civil Agencies. Along with this there was a medical camp that was set up which saw the participation of many Medical specialists.

The JJAY is a programme under which the government has said to provide houses or dwelling units to the serving and retired Personnel below Officer Ranks (PBOR) and widows of deceased PBORs at a reasonably low cost.

Under this programme the cost of the houses are at a range of Rs8 lakhs to 12 lakhs. As the constructions of the houses are under progress, the houses are being allotted to the retired officers and widows of the PBORs and to the other eligible candidates of the scheme.

How to apply?
For applying the officers or the widow of an officer will have to fill an application form which is available in AWHO Master Brochure. To get access to the brochure, one needs to send a demand draft of Rs100 in favor of MD AWHO payable at New Delhi. Otherwise one can also collect the form from any of the project office with a cash payment of Rs50. The form is also available at www.awhosena.in which can be downloaded.
You can also apply in Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana apart from this scheme. PMAY is can give you a loan benefit or around rs 2.4 Lakhs in urban Area and 1.2 lakhs in rural area. Pm Modi aims to have house for all by 2022 and this scheme has been given responsibility for that.
